BCS ELITE Group Debate Evening - "IT Age Before Beauty"
Date: Wednesday 4 June 2003 (6pm for 6.30pm start)
Venue: The Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London

Do you believe that ageism is rife in IT? Are you really past it when you reach that magic age of 35? Or do you need that ability to quickly master new skills which seems to come naturally to the younger generation? The debate heard the ELITE Grey Beards debate this very topical issue with the young Turks of the BCS Young Professionals Group.

The motion was:

Experience is of fundamental importance to the successful implementation of IT projects

This motion was proposed by Geoff McMullen the immediate past president of the British Computer Society and seconded by John Elsden. The motion was opposed by James Hickson, the Chairman of the BCS Young Professionals Group aided by Andrew Brown.
